Broadly speaking, the AA tends to make contractual changes to specific groups of employees at once. This actually provides us with a strong foundation, as the recognised trade union, to influence the final outcome of any proposed contractual changes.
A settlement agreement is a legally binding contract between an employer and an employee that is used to facilitate the termination of the employment relationship. As the recognised trade union for the AA, the IDU handles settlement agreements for both members and non-members.
As the recognised trade union for the AA, the IDU are involved in the detail of the AA’s policy and procedures, and are best position to ensure they are applied correctly. Support of this nature is usually provided by the representatives from within your local branch.
